Who: Ruth O’Hagan
What: Inner Strength, 12" x 16", Acrylic on Canvas

This painting is based on the theme of spirituality, specifically yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. It focuses on illustrating the inner strength of people and how we are stronger than we may think. The painting shows the spiritual effects caused by certain life experiences and how they can liberate and enlighten the soul.

The painting tells the story of an angel who has had the one thing that defines her taken away from her. They have taken away her wings. She has been betrayed but she doesn’t let them win. She is brave in the face of pain. Although they have removed of her wings she will still fly. She accepts that these are external challenges that she cannot control. She has the power to control her internal path and she will focus on remaining strong. She is not to blame. It is not her fault and she will remain a warrior. She will not be seduced by anger or hate. She is ferociously strong. Her power was never because of her wings but because of her inner strength. She meditates and floats with a vibrancy, even brighter than before. She will fearlessly face the future through hope, compassion and with a sincere heart.
