Child Talks 2020

Applications are now open for Child Talks 2020, an annual event run by the Ombudsman for Children’s Office to mark World Children’s Day in November.

In the style of Ted Talks, Child Talks gives children and young people (up to age 18) the chance to talk about children’s rights and the issues that matter most to them.

This year’s theme is ‘A Day in my Life’ and could include anything that impacts you. Past Child Talks speakers have highlighted a range of issues such as climate change, healthcare, prejudice and education.

You don’t need any public speaking experience to take part; if selected, speakers can take part in a series of online group and one on one sessions with the Dublin Story Slam to get ready for the event in November.

To apply to take part in Child Talks 2020 and for more info head over to oco.ie.

At Child Talks 2018, the brilliant Katie McKenna shared her experience of growing up gay in Ireland and the difficulties she faced at school.
