A Mindful Marathon (four times over!)

200km Mindfulwest Run from Greystones to Tarmonbarry

A groups of friends will take on the challenge of a lifetime to “mindfully” run the Royal Canal Greenway from 9th to the 11th of September this year in aid of mental health charity, A Lust for Life. The group will begin their journey across Ireland from ‘the Cove’ in Greystones, Co. Wicklow to Tarmonbarry along the Royal Canal Greenway.

The passionate group of 25 committed individuals wish to raise money for this very worthy charity dear to their heart and raise awareness for mental health issues in Ireland. A Lust for Life co-founder Niall ‘Bressie’ Breslin, has been training with the group and will run from Greystones to his hometown of Mullingar with them.

“Why don’t you join them virtually? Run as much or as little as you like over the three days and post a picture on your social media using the tags #ALustForLife and #Mindfulwest.

International research has shown that human interaction coupled with enjoying the great outdoors can have tangible positive benefits on one’s health. With this in mind, the group hope to be joined on all or any of the days and at any stage by individuals/groups to run/walk/cycle for all or a part of the way.

Last year's story

Documentary: Lean on me

Andrea Splendori was one of a tribe of souls who ran 240km from Greystones to Galway in aid of a Lust for Life and CRMF Crumlin. He hosts The Social Fabric Podcast.

We marked September 2020 with a 240km run across Ireland for mental health awareness.

From the genesis of the idea to what unfolded over the months prior to it and during the run, is an amazing story of people – 20 to be precise – that came together with a common goal.

What we discovered along the journey was a lot more that any of us had expected. It’s a story of friendships, community, relationships, resilience, achievements, tears and laughter.

It’s a human story and one that I was keen to record in the hope that it may become a blueprint for us and others in the future.

Howaya! We hope you’re enjoying A Lust for Life.
While you are here… can we ask you a favour?
We know, pop ups are absolutely no craic. But seeing as you are here anyway, which means you must be a sound head, we thought we’d tap you on the shoulder and ask for your help.

We rely on the generosity of the public to fund our work and so far together we have achieved great things! Please do continue to support us so we can provide future generations in Ireland with the resources to recognise and talk about their emotions, and equip them to navigate the ever-changing world around them as they grow.
