A Lust For Life

Poem: This Place

There is a place inside all of us that we long to visit,
a place left unattended since childhood and a place that contains the forgotten treasures of our distracted and worried adult heart.
A place that delights in the magic of unrestricted possibilities,
With no notion of limits and not a single trace of fear of the unknown.
This place, buried deep inside, aches for expression and its patient opportunity to emerge as uncontrived being.
This place has been lost through obligations and expectations, conditions and a continuous stream of settling for less than the heart truly desires.
This place holds a power greater than fire, and can burn up the beholder if its ever-present whispers go unheard. Sparks of lethargy can consume the owner and risk a premature loss of our greatest jewel.
But once listened to, this place can set you alight. This place can burn up our grief and turn our pain to ashes on the floor.
This place is unconditional love. This place is magic. This place is unbridled joy. This place is everything you’ve been looking for in all of the wrong directions.
This place is your unrestricted essence, your wild child’s heart, your universal connector, your blinding light that will not be dimmed.
Finding this place is the greatest gift we can offer to ourselves. This place is you. The real you, before the world got its hands on you.
Go home to this place. You’ve been waiting long enough.
