A Lust For Life

Work with your subconscious power to lessen the hold fear has on you

What is our greatest fear?

The fear of death.

The fear of death is the fear of life.

The fear of life is a living death.

If we live our life fully and at peace as much as is possible, we can live mostly without fear. The search for certainty in an uncertain world is the root of many people’s fears. Ironically the only real certainty is death and many of us spend our lives in fear of our own death and the death of the people we lose.

My idea worth spreading in my recent Tedx Tallaght talk is not just that fear has an impact on our lives most important decisions but that fear is, in fact, a decision in itself, whether we are consciously aware of it or not.

In my work as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I have spent 1000’s of hours delving into the subconscious fears of my clients. My business is based on fear and I make it my business to free people from the crippling panic and anxiety that fear brings to many people’s lives. They say animals can smell fear, I think humans can also, it’s a subliminal instinct that we all have.

Most of my client’s fears are irrational and as Mark Twain said: ‘I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of them have never happened.’ Helping people to understand the difference between a healthy fear and unnecessary fear is fundamental to that person’s happiness. Neuroplasticity is the brain’s capacity to re-wire itself and the brain literally does physically change depending on our thoughts, feelings and experiences.

The key to this re-wiring process is understanding the roots of your fear, your belief systems and early conditioning. It’s also important to understand that irrational fear is not your fault, the subconscious mind does not know the difference between your reality and imagination. This leads me to discuss the importance of taking back the power from fear and realising that you always have a choice: ‘Nothing is life is to be feared, it is only to be understood’, Marie Curie. Turning on the torch of compassion, understanding and love to the darkness of fear allows us to go beyond and into true freedom.
